Interacting with Your Baby
Parents and caretakers play a part in introducing emotional interactions with the baby. A newborn does not yet communicate intentionally. For that reason, the advice for parents you need to take initiative and react to your baby’s cries as well as his expressions; these gestures from your baby are attempts in communicating with you. To promote loving and meaningful interactions with your child you need to show him the way by using the communications tools yourself your child will pick up these skills.
At every pivotal point of your child’s development stage there is a particularly important corresponding type of activity. For newborns, this refers to the emotional interactions with the people who are taking care of him. Following these interactions, your child develops an essential bond necessary for development and growth. It is therefore important to talk to your baby, to read a book or sing a song, even before you can detect his interests for these activities.
Newborn Infants Needs
At approximately three months your newborn begins to adopt a new behavior such as smiling. When he smiles your child is attempting to engage in an emotional dialogue with you. At this moment, on it is essential to encourage his initiatives. Tell him what you are planning to do and wait for your child to respond in his way. Even if he does not communicate like you do it is important that you allow him the time to express himself by a gesture or mimic. By doing so, you will encourage your child to take part of exchanges and to interact by himself which is crucial for his development.
Communications with Baby
The first interactions with objects takes place around 6 to 12 months. Your newborn will want to participate in exploring objects and new things. The more complex with diverse characteristics such as colors, textures, shapes you present your child, the better. Be sure to offer your help and take into consideration your child’s capacity and to allow him to develop new ones.
No object or toy can replace your interaction with your child. Newborns have a right and need to manipulate objects to discover the world but they must be able to do in the company of caring adults who are available. Communicating with babies can be a ritual of spending quality time and family fun!
